An international juried selection by the Arts to Hearts Project

Some news that means a great deal to me.

My painting "Flight Through Quiet Reflection" has been selected for the 101 Art Book: Nature Edition, an international juried open call hosted by the Arts to Hearts Project. This hardcover volume brings together nature artists and wildlife artists from around the world, and it will be distributed internationally, including through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. To be chosen among artists across so many countries and cultures is an honor I will hold onto.

The selected painting

"Flight Through Quiet Reflection" is a great blue heron, painted in layers of blue, white, and black against deep purples and golden light. I wanted to capture that moment of quiet strength as the bird moves with complete intention, the stillness held inside the motion.

Like so much of my work, it was born from the hours I spend near the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge here in Florida, watching these coastal birds move through their world. That refuge, one of the most biodiverse sanctuaries in North America, sits just steps from my studio and shapes nearly everything I create as a contemporary expressive impressionist.

Why this matters to me

Painting has been the through line of my life. I returned to it after a long pause, and moments like this one remind me why. To have this coastal wildlife painting recognized on an international stage, and to see it living in print, is the kind of milestone that reminds me the work is reaching the people and places it was meant to reach.

My deepest thanks to the Arts to Hearts Project for championing artists and creating space for our voices to be seen. There is more to come as this publication takes shape, and I will share it here as it unfolds.
