There is something about the blue heron that stops me every time. Not because it's loud or sudden, but because it isn't. It moves through the world with a focused calm that feels almost instructional. This painting is my answer to that feeling.

About the Painting

Flight Through Quiet Reflection is a new 12×12-inch oil painting that captures a moment of stillness and grace in motion. At its center, a blue heron glides effortlessly across a softly glowing landscape. The Process

Technically, I wanted the composition to highlight this duality. I layered transparent glazes alongside opaque strokes to build an atmosphere that feels both rich and delicate. This process deepened the background's glow without overshadowing the bird's detailed form, allowing the heron to emerge as the clear focal point. Through these layers, I aimed to convey the fragile beauty of light and movement intertwined.
